“I–,” Saul cuts himself off, tendons in his neck stretched tight. She thinks he’s been more of a live wire lately, more tortured by the things they’ve seen, they’ve heard, the battles they’ve fought, from doing what needs to be done. He’s never reckless in the field, eyes still scanning sharp for the slightest hint of danger, fingers nimble as ever as they draw his bow, but things are changing between them each time they set up camp.
