Summary
They arrive at the restaurant, and she barely notices when the hostess leads her right past the patio, past the low hum of the indoor dining room. Down a narrow hallway toward a thick, industrial-looking door that seems like it would lead to a kitchen, or maybe a walk-in freezer.
But then the hostess wrenches it open, and Karolina steps into a red-tinged portal to the past.
The speakeasy is close and low-ceilinged, almost cave-like. But every surface—every intermediary texture and fixture—is lavish, ornate, or both. Jazz drifts through the speakers, loud enough that it feels like there’s a live band playing in every corner of the space.
Karolina could disappear here, she thinks. She wonders if she already has.

Rhea and Karolina go to lunch (in theory).

A re-imagined canon timeline beginning in S3, focused on the relationship between Juliet and Kate that could have been as well as Juliet’s messy moral culpability in the Others’ schemes and abuse. Also filling in more of Juliet’s backstory, both off- and on-island.

Summary
Vampires and werewolves are among the most lineage-oriented races in the book. To a werewolf, nothing matters more than loyalty and service for the good of the pack. For vampires, maintaining a regal and powerful family image is of utmost importance. The species’ respective pride has led to millennia of conflict between the two that has cost many their lives and their loved ones.
Carol Sturka, a now lone wolf, lives in the Northwest United States in a suburban town that sits right on the edge of nature. After a tragic event that resulted in the loss of her bonded mate, Helen, she’s noticed herself becoming more tempered and reclusive than ever. She can already barely manage her fury and transformations as is, but to make things so much worse, one of those rabies-infested-haughty-bat-shits has just moved into the big house at the end of the street, and she seems…
…Oh, Carol could just throw up at the thought…
…friendly.

Summary
Another glass down, her seventh. Maybe eighth? She’d stopped keeping track when Zosia started pouring. She pursed her lips when the heavy glass hit the table, eyed Zosia expectantly like she might take it all back. She wanted it, wanted Zosia to want it without the ‘we’ telling her she had to. Whatever collective that made decisions for her had no place between Carol’s hands and her skin, Zosia’s reflex and Carol’s will to locate her within them.
“You don’t mind?”
The chair creaked when Zosia shifted her weight—a screw Carol had never gotten around to adjusting. “I like it,” Zosia said quietly. “When you hurt me.”
(Carol and the world play house. Carol wants Zosia instead.)

Summary
“No,” she says, swallowing around the word.
There’s a moment of silence that follows, and Carol knows she’s in trouble. But that doesn’t stop her. She needs this, needs Helen to do something to dull the ache in her bones.
“Do you want to try that again?”
Carol’s hands reach out, and she grips the edge of the sink, taking a deep breath as she registers the familiar shift in Helen’s voice. She knows exactly what’s coming, and a small part of her feels relief at the thought.
“No,” she repeats.
Helen’s response comes instantly, “In here, now.”
Carol doesn’t hesitate, doesn’t argue. Her body moves on autopilot because it needs what it’s walking into. It knew it before she did.
