Summary
Back in her home, without the twins to mind and chase after, Maude found herself at loose ends. She’d spent months looking forward to the days when Thom and Alanna would be someone else’s headache, but now that she finally had peace she found it inexplicably empty. She missed Thom’s constant questions and Alanna’s easy affection, missed their inescapable presence at her hearth. For nearly ten years, ever since the twins were old enough to walk on their own, Maude had narrated her activities to them, teaching and explaining and hoping to lead by example. Now, she prepared a salve for burns and asked aloud why she had chosen the ingredients she had, only to remember that the boy who would have answered her was at the City of the Gods. She brought in wood for the fire and frowned when the pile was smaller than usual, before remembering that the girl who always helped her was at the palace, making her own destiny.

Summary
Once, everyone knew that it was best to keep a bit of cold iron ready, and that one should never, ever, insult the Fair Folk.
Now, Darcy's family is one of the few left in England with enough Sight to see things as they really are.
Such as the fact that Miss Elizabeth Bennet is not at all human.
