a very interesting way to look at LX and XF relationship... god i love them.
i really like this author's writing and their way of expressing so many things in such "short" works like this one – and yet again, another fic of theirs got me! I really like the use of 2nd person perspective here, too. i particularly see it as a way for LX to disassociate from himself, seeing the world as transactional and removing his own feelings from the "game", even if, in some parts, we can still see them, especially in his childhood. but then our boy here grows up, and even though he gets better at hiding it, we can still see some of these cracks lol. Big big love. SO good

Summary
Unbeknownst to each other, Alberu Crossman, first son of the Crossman family and heir to the Roan Corporation, and Cale Henituse, first son of the Henituse family and well-known high-society trash, both plan to steal the exact same high priced painting on the exact same night. But when they have to hide from the police, the only place is a broom closet. Neither of them particularly appreciate being stuck in close quarters with the other masked idiot who ruined their respective heists.
When that harrowing and rather ironic night ends, Alberu thought he was done with the infuriating man who extorted him. Cale thought he would never see the bastard who shoved him in a closet again.
They meet less than a week later, at a gala.
And of course, they recognize each other immediately.Modern AU in which Alberu and Cale are grudgingly coworkers by day and grudgingly partners in crime by night. The "grudgingly" part is (eventually) debatable.

wow... this family is a fucking mess♡ I love how Liu brothers' relationship is depicted here, and also the glimpse of LX + Vein and Li Tianchen interactions – they def added a lot to the story here, especially the LTC ones!! Siblings' dynamics are something i always love to explore/analyze, and this fic gave me so much food in almost 2k words .. that said, i also reeally like the entirety of the pool scene here and how it takes inspiration from the fic "the unknowable sea" by Jan – which is also another work bookmarked of mine, i love it!!
im super obsessed with Liu Xiao's character, and i think this fanfic portrays perfectly a lot of his intriguing nature and many of his layers, with some glimpses of things he doesnt even fully acknowledge himself – or, better, he doesnt want to!!
