Summary
“Oi, little ghost, don’t start crying again,” the man sounds a little panicked even if his face doesn’t really show it, but now that he has started, Wen Kexing can’t stop crying, choking out sobs so much, he can barely breathe. A hand falls on his shoulder over the blankets, and he looks up to find the man is kneeling by the bed now, looking very uncomfortable, “alright, if I tell you my name, will you stop crying? My name is Ye Baiyi.”
Wen Kexing hiccups. “Where’s Luo-yi?”
“At the Ghost Valley with the other ghosts,” Ye Baiyi says, voice kinder than before, “she gave you to me to get you out of that damned place.”
“Why?”
“Because that place is no place for children, not even rude little ghosts.”
“Why?”
“Because– ai, is that the only word you know? Come on, if you’re well enough to be a pest, you’re well enough to get out of bed to eat.”
“I could be dying,” Wen Kexing sniffs. “No funny business or I’ll really bite you.”

Summary
In all fairness, as much as his opinion of Wen Kexing has been as changing as the seasons, his uncanny ability to be an annoying nuisance has never flickered. He was annoying when he was staring down Ye Baiyi’s sword and he was annoying when he kneeled on the forest bed in apology and plea.
Surely, it’s no surprise that he is annoying now, allegedly dead.
And yet, Ye Baiyi had not anticipated this level of stupidity from him: the brat did not tell Qin Huaizhang’s disciple of his plan.

Summary
Nobody said traveling through time would be easy — nothing Wen Kexing has done has ever been easy — but A-Xu was dying. He was going to die.
If Wen Kexing could not save his A-Xu in the life they shared together, he would save him elsewhere in the past. And then some other version of them could live on, while this A-Xu and this Wen Kexing would stop existing. Would become something that never existed at all. If Wen Kexing did this right, he would die one day after — and some twenty years earlier than — his husband.
Only, A-Xu died and Wen Kexing didn't stop existing.
(Only — maybe A-Xu didn't die.)
