Setting: Post Vecna-defeat (except El lives because she deserves a better ending, just like our boys do), their final year of high school but I’m aging them up to 18 because the content is explicit. (I head canon that the total devastation of Hawkins resulted in their normal high school trajectory getting delayed because that makes more sense than what the Duffers did.)

Summary
“We used to tell each other everything,” Mike says, as tears form in his eyes. He wants to hide them, he doesn’t want to burden Will, but he has to keep going. Instead of pushing them down, this time he lets them go.
“I have to… tell you something too,” Mike says as a tear tumbles out of his left eye and onto the pillow.
And here it is. He’s right at the precipice of it. He flashes to that day on the cliff edge. This feels like that – a point of no return. A decision that can’t be undone. He tries to remind himself that Will did it, in front of half of Hawkins for Christ’s sake, Mike should be able to tell Will. Will, who is holding his hand.
“I-“ Mike falters, “I don’t know how to say this.”
OR
What if Mike and Will had one night to sort out their feelings before the battle in the Upside Down.

This is a 2-parter set mid-S5, imagining if Mike and Will had one night to confess their feelings before they fight Vecna. So, not canon-compliant but canon-adjacent.
Part I is from Will's POV, Part II is from Mike's POV. They're essentially the same story but since we follow each of them separately during their POV there are some slightly different scenes in each one, plus you get their thoughts when its their POV.
