“What’s all this?”
A new voice cuts through the general merriment of the group. It’s light and casual and Lan Wangji sees the feet and legs of some of his tormentors turn in the direction of the voice. From the angle his head is at, he can’t see the newcomer at all. Blood loss and shock and pain are making his body heavy and his vision hazy and even his mind feels like it’s starting to slip away, yet even as far gone as he is he knows exactly to whom that voice belongs.
He would know that voice anywhere.
OR Lan Wangji is horrifically hurt during the sunshot campaign and when Wei Wuxian comes to his rescue /things/ end up coming out.

Summary
What else could Lan Xichen do to push Wangji to confess his feelings? Of course, pretend that he is in love with the same young man as his younger brother. The spirit of competition will never believe, right?
"Uncle doesn't like him," Lan Wangji forced out, with the coldest look in his eyes. Lan Xichen knew very well that this icy look spoke of the greatest emotional torment. Beneath that mask, panic was hiding.
"I will be able to protect him, especially after we become engaged…" Lan Xichen paused briefly, giving his brother time to process what he had heard, then continued, "…and Wei Wuxian moves into my quarters."
Lan Wangji coughed, sharply, harshly, covering his mouth with his sleeve. Lan Xichen quickly patted him on the back, mentally apologizing. Later, when Wangji finally found the courage to invite young Wei on a date, his younger brother would thank him. Lan Xichen believed it. He hoped for it.
