Summary
Foulques had always cherished the sunlight, revered it even. It still felt like somewhat of a novelty, even after nearly twenty years of living mainly above ground. He could still remember the first time he saw it setting low on the horizon through the trees in the Black Shroud. He'd been young, just a boy clutching at his older sister's hand as she led him up the path from their village underground. And after living his whole life in the dark, nothing could've prepared him for how bright it was. He remembered his eyes watering and having to squeeze them shut as he felt the warmth on his face for the first time.

"I'll have you know I'd been on my way to the machinists' guild when a merchant asked me to deal with some sky pirates," she said, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked back over at him.

"I'm coming with you," Foulques said, ignoring the few sounds of protest from the Scions around him; most of them didn't matter to him, never really had, he only had his eyes on Cel and he watched his lover look back at him tiredly. "You're going to try some stupid self-sacrificing bullshit 'for the good of the Star' if you're left alone, I'm not having it. I'm coming with you," he insisted, almost frantic as he said it.
Cel swallowed hard and cupped his cheek – if Foulques didn't know that all eyes were on him, he might've let a tear slip down his cheek before Cel even opened his mouth. "No, I need you to stay," Cel whispered, smiling sadly up at him, "I can't risk losing you too."

Summary
Foulques stood on the balcony of the Crystarium, tucked in a shadow as the unending light above bared down above. He still hadn't quite gotten used to it, even after nearly two years of living on this reflection. The light here lacked all warmth of that on the Source, lacked the magnificence of the sunlight that took his breath away as a child. And somehow night brought no reprieve, still just the blinding light above without pause. It made something deep in his heart ache for the citizens here, people who had never known the beauty of a sunset nor the awe of seeing the stars slowly appear in the sky above.
Not that he'd ever voice such thoughts.

That was before he knew of the cloudsbreath and periwinkle that had rooted deep in her lungs, before he saw the plants snake their way up her throat in seek of the light and choke the life out of her.

Summary
James Bond was a code name. He'd been using it long enough that he'd begun to think of himself by the name. But he wasn't particularly attached to it. So when Q demanded to not use the name outside of work, as a condition of them dating, he agreed easily.
Just why Q had issued that requirement sparked his curiosity. But it would take time, and plenty of stubbornness, to find the answer. It would also reveal other surprising revelations regarding the Quartermaster's history.

It was Mrs. Figg who suspected first.
She noticed many things, sitting on her side of her fence with her cats chasing butterflies and nuzzling her ankles, Mundungus and the other watchers dropping by for tea now and then.
Mrs. Figg noticed that Petunia was a nosy bit of work with insecurities hanging from her every harsh angle. She noticed when Dudley learned the word MINE-- the whole neighborhood noticed that one. She noticed that Vernon glared at owls.
She noticed that when Petunia gave Harry a truly horrendous haircut one year, it grew back in at a normal rate. Harry was uneven and weird-looking for ages, hiding under beanies when he could.
When Mrs. Figg had Harry over for carefully miserable afternoons of babysitting, she noticed nothing moved that shouldn't. He didn't accidentally make flowers out of fallen leaves, or levitate anything during tantrums, or turn toys funny colors.
Mrs. Figg called up her mother, interrupting the wizarding bridge game she was winning against the nursing home staff, and asked her how she had known, decades back, that her youngest daughter was a squib.
