“Do you think I’m an idiot? Do you think shijie is an idiot?” Wei Wuxian continued. “I mean, what you’re doing is so blatant that Jin Zixuan noticed, and he is an idiot. So let’s try this again, Nie-xiong – are you trying to steal my shijie and marry her off to your brother?”
“I sure am,” Nie Huaisang said cheerfully. “I mean, who would you rather have to sit with at family dinners, me or Jin Zixun?”

This is amazing and beautiful. I loved that LWJ actually grows and ages in this fic, and that he is shown as intellegent and thoughtful, always putting the well being of innocents first but acknowledging his own emotions and giving himself time for them too. The author has a very skilled hand with showing the passage of time and people's inner thoughts - I really enjoyed it.
Anyhow, this left me in a much happier mood than I started the day in. Thanks -

I allow myself only fifteen minutes in the shower. It's a steadfast rule, self-imposed back from my days with the Sweepers. Fifteen minutes and only lukewarm water. When you walk around with hair down to your ass, people tend to resent every second you spend in the shower. It gets in their head that it must take you forever to wash that much hair and suddenly every minute you spend in the bathroom seems to multiply in their minds. And yeah; it means I have to rush like hell. It's just one of those stereotypical things that I've had to deal with for years.
Maybe that's why I don't look back with any fondness on the first time the five of us shared a safe house together. I got hit with a half a dozen of those damned hackneyed accusations within days.

Hua Cheng wilts: this is devastatingly believable.
A pair of robbers accosts Xie Lian outside of Puqi Village. They were expecting an easy ransom from a rich husband. They were not expecting the wrath of Crimson Rain Sought Flower, or free relationship advice from the husband of the world’s leading expert in codependency. They got both.

Really deep look at characteriza and motivations. Some really beautiful, powerful phrasing in this story too. For instance

His nerves have realized, suddenly, that hurt is not normal, and that if they encourage him to cry out then perhaps, now, he will: perhaps, now, someone will answer.""He has confessed to Xie Lian on more than one occasion that he fears to focus himself on anything else—fears that if he moves Xie Lian even an inch aside then there will be nothing else to focus on. Who is he, if not merely Xie Lian’s? Is he anything else at all? If his continued existence is rooted in his devotion to Xie Lian, can there be anything else? It’s a fear the both of them are unraveling, together, slowly.)"
