They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.

Wade Wilson is the best merc in the business, and he knows it. When he crosses the wrong kind of withered old lady—the magic kind—she curses him to regret his cockiness in the most literal way possible: By turning him into a cock. A rooster. A male hen, of the chicken variety.
Peter Parker, grieving the loss of Aunt May and Uncle Ben, needs a change. That's what his grief counselor says, anyway. So he makes an impulsive and massive one: He buys a farm. He doesn't mean for it to turn in a rescue for broken things, he just... he can't help but love the animals that no one else wants. Thus, when he overhears a greasy, crude asshole trying to pawn off a rooster in the middle of a farmer's market, he doesn't hesitate.
But there's something wrong with this rooster. It doesn't crow at sunrise—which is the only thing Peter expects a rooster would do—but it does holler its tail off whenever Peter bends over. And it follows him around and clucks like it's talking to him. And it's weirdly good at killing the vermin around the house.
There's a mystery afoot. Peter's going to get to the bottom of it.

Wade scoffs, shaking his head and elbowing Peter in the side. “Sure,” he says, sarcastic. “That’s why your spidey-sense doesn’t see me.”
Peter’s on the verge of laughing, wanting to join Wade in his amusement, but he freezes. His entire body goes still. He finds himself staring at a roof three buildings over, not even looking at anything. Two blocks away, a car alarm finally shuts off.
“I never told you that,” Peter says, the realization startling him.

"Oh, Martin," Jon breathes, watching as Martin's face flushes back with color all at once, its warmth flooding back between Jon's hands, his eyes regaining their shine finally, finally. The ocean tides lower and pull back from their ankles, and the breeze passes by, gently tousling Martin's white streaked hair. Jon slides his hands back and wraps around Martin's wide shoulders, pulling him down tightly against him. Martin's arms wind around him immediately, fingers curling into the back of Jon's sweater, and Jon can feel his heart beat against his chest.
Martin gasps, wet and quickly leading to repressed cries, and tucks his face down against Jon's shoulder, tears pooling and dampening his sweater, and Jon feels his own eyes start to sting in relief, "I- I was on my own. I was all on my own."
"Not anymore."
Jon pulls just the farthest amount away to look at Martin's, categorizes his expression, burns this moment into his memory.
"Come on. Let's go home."
"How?" Martin sounds so lost, but Jon has finally found him.
"Don't worry," He says softly, bumping their foreheads together, "I know the way."

Jon hadn’t anticipated just how quiet it would be at Daisy’s cottage. He definitely hadn’t anticipated how that quiet settles something inside of him, like balm on an injury he didn’t know he had. He’d thought the lack of human presence would make him more aware of the loss still sitting in the pit of his stomach, heavy and solid, but it’s … it’s nice to have the space to process things. To know that he’s currently alone by choice, not by happenstance, and that he has the freedom to just be. Jon lets the solitude envelop him like a weighted blanket, warm and comfortable and safe.
It’s a few days later when he first meets the man who pets the cows.

Following the loss of his grandmother, Jon takes a sabbatical and moves up to northern Scotland to stay in Daisy's cabin and study the religious culture of the village near it. There, he meets Martin, his apparent and unwanted neighbor who makes odd jokes and seems to exist solely to ruin Jon's attempts at finally getting some peace and quiet. But as Jon spends more time with Martin, he begins to warm up to him and, as time goes on, to fall in love with him.
It just takes him a bit to realize that the man he's fallen in love with is a god.

Jon reaches forward to take his hand again. Martin doesn’t hesitate, and his grip is warmer still, his fingers soft against Jon’s. At some point or another, this has become how they’re making this journey, and it’s a relief not to have to justify it, or to ask if it’s all right.
Jon needs to get himself and Martin to safely to Scotland. That's the only important thing.
Except... there's something he's been trying to say to Martin for a long time now. Unfortunately he's never been very good with words.
