Summary
Eddie’s never seen Buck this way, chained up by a body that won’t do as he says. He’s still caressing his fingers through Buck’s hair and across his scalp; feels dampness along the surface of his forehead, takes in the flush of his cheeks and nose, the soft surrender of his slightly open mouth. There’s no real danger present, and Buck will feel fine in a few hours, but right now--right now, he is beautiful and asthenic, and Eddie can’t help but feel privileged.
(You need to settle down a little. or: Eddie poisons Buck, and other acts of radical devotion.)

Summary
The credits had just begun to roll when Eddie noticed Buck playing with the hem of his dress, fingers grazing his thigh every couple of seconds, sending sparks through his skin. Eddie turned to face him, finding Buck staring down to where he was fiddling with the fabric.
A shiver went through Eddie as Buck’s fingers grazed his thigh again and Eddie nervously blurted, “What are you doing?”
Buck’s eyes flicked up to meet Eddie’s, looking slightly surprised, like he hadn’t been fully aware of his own actions.
“Nothing, you just– you look really pretty,” his fingers continued toying with the material as he spoke and Eddie felt his cheeks burn.

Eddie realizes he really likes to feel pretty, and Buck helps him through the complicated feelings that come along with that.

Buck’s jaw tightened, and he stood up. “What do you want me to do, Eddie? Stop checking in with you? Stop helping you?”
“Yes,” Eddie said, but Buck continued.
“Wait until I get a call from your son that you locked yourself in your room and took a bat to everything you own?”
Eddie pushed away his plate. “Get out.”
Buck blinked. “Are you fucking serious right now?”
“I’m not kidding, Buck. Get. Out.”
Buck stared at him for a long moment, then turned around and stalked away.
“Fine. But don’t fucking call when you need me.”

Summary
The kid with blood pouring down his shins is not so far from the dog lonely enough that he thinks breaking his housetraining is worth it for the ten minutes of berating that come with it, the ten minutes of undivided, if reluctant, attention.
Buck thinks, sometimes, that at least he wasn’t the kind of puppy that gets put in a sack and drowned at birth. He wasn’t always unwanted. And he isn’t anymore.
