“What you suggested was sex”, Aziraphale says bluntly. “That’s what you said.”
“What I’m suggesting is…an arrangement, of sorts”, Crowley says. His cheeks have turned a pretty pink colour. Aziraphale wants to find out where else that blush spreads on his body. “A mutually beneficial arrangement for our time on earth”, he continues. Aziraphale almost has to laugh; what a way to put things.
“And what makes you think I’d be even remotely interested in such a thing? With you of all people, with an Archangel?” He knows he’s being unfair, denying what they're both so painfully aware of.
They're friends with benefits, they're enemies, they're in love, they're certainly doomed.

“Do you ever regret it?” Crowley suddenly asks.
“It’s a little late to be asking me about my hang-ups regarding extramarital affairs, isn’t it?” Aziraphale says. “Besides, you’re the angel.” Not me, he leaves unsaid. He hardly has to remind either of them.
“You know very well that that whole sex-before-marriage-thing is a human concept,” Crowley says. “That’s not what I meant, anyway”, Crowley continues, undeterred.
“I mean not fighting. And the whole business with the sword. Lying to Her. Do you ever regret that?”A discussion of sorts about faith, choices, and abandonment between the Angel Crowley and the Demon Aziraphale.

“What do you call yourself these days?”
Aziraphale straightened up a little and looked around the otherwise empty room. His shelves, the wallpaper he'd carefully chosen himself, the antique and comfortable furniture, his books. “My name is Aziraphale.”
“Nope. Can’t be.” Aziraphale’s eyes shot back up at the angel.
“That’s a heavenly name,” the angel chose to explain, as though Aziraphale didn’t know so very well himself. “I mean. Might’ve been your name … Before. But it can’t be now, can it?”
Aziraphale tried to breathe calmly. They would be experiencing a couple of the other deadly sins if the angel kept up with this.
The Demon Aziraphale just wants to be left alone among his books in the home he's built for himself. The last thing he needs is some smug angel coming into his home to taunt him. But said angel has an important message for him.
