Can hatred be passed down from generation to generation?
Neteyam and Ao’nung were supposed to get along, if not as friends, then at least as equals. They’re both raised to lead, to fight, to carry the weight of their people just like their fathers. On the surface, they have everything in common. But somehow, every interaction between them turns into an argument, every conversation marked with irritation that feels just a little too personal, just like their mothers.
Even though they act annoyed with each other, neither of them can ignore the other. What starts as irritation is starting to feel like something more, something confusing, and something neither is willing to admit.

Ao'nung has a complicated relationship with his family, and to make things worse, they are forced to move out and live with his dad's friend and their family. Right off the bat, Ao'nung hates it but knows this is good for his family after all they had been through. until a certain boy catches his eye, and begins getting a little too close for comfort. Stuck to his side one day, then nowhere to be seen the next. Ao'nung isn't sure if he happens to be this friendly with everyone or if he's giving him a sign, and he knows the dangers of acting on his curiosities. stuck between these suffocating feelings, his less-than-accepting father, and the sudden move to a small town in the country, he's forced to make it all balance out without giving away the most vulnerable and ashamed part of himself.

Oh, Ma’Eywa…what did they do to you?” The creature called out sadly, water blowing out from the top of their head as it shook back and forth, backing away as Neteyam shushed it, hands stretched out needlessly. “Hey, hey, it’s okay. I won’t hurt you, I promise.”
The creature backed up more, sliding further into the water to reveal the top of its head, something light blue in color finally being revealed to Neteyam, his eyes widening as he locked onto the still body of a Na’vi with wounds littering their body.
Neteyam ran into the sea, brushing a hand over the creature's roughened skin as a warning before bracing and jumping up, kneeling by the foreign Na’vi and sighing with relief when he could hear their breaths, slow and rough though they may be.
