Summary

Jyn thinks she might hate herself.
It’s not the first time she’s had that particular thought, but it is the first time she’s levelled it at herself with such speed and certainty. Cassian’s hand rests at the small of her back, just this side of decency, as he chats with the Imperial flunky like they’ve been friends their whole life. Any trace of his accent is gone, replaced with crisp, Coruscanti edges.

There’s no way Jyn was anybody’s first choice for this mission.
“Two newlyweds looking for a fresh start are less likely to attract unwanted attention.” Cassian says blandly, face devoid of any kind of opinion on the matter, hands braced behind his back. Just a soldier relaying orders.
[Or: Cassian and Jyn have to go undercover as a married couple. Somehow, the mission isn't the most complicated part of the trip.]

This story was inspired by the thought of Prince William of Wales (and indeed the current Max von Hapsburg) studying at the University of St Andrews; it is also, as the title suggests, at least a little inspired by the operetta 'The Student Prince'.

::2019 note: This story was written BEFORE the TV show introduced the character of Gwaine. It's not that I can't spell, or that I'm perversely writing him out of character - I incorporated other characters from Arthurian legend (Kay, Gawain etc) into my story, and lacking prophetic abilities, my versions naturally don't mesh with the versions subsequently introduced into the show.::
