The icy rush of the water stole the breath from his lungs. Tommy gasped for air, struggling to swim towards shore, any shore, he didn’t care about escaping, he didn’t want to drown, but the island was far and the mainland even farther, and there was no way he could reach it. The freezing water was seeping into his feathers, and no matter how he thrashed his arms and legs there was nothing that could stop the weight of his waterlogged wings, dragging him down. This was a fight that Tommy could not win.

There was someone following him. Technoblade wasn’t quite sure when he’d noticed it, when he’d become aware of the shuffling footsteps that trailed after him in the dark, of the feeling of eyes on him, of the flickers of movement in his peripherals.
Technoblade had never believed in the supernatural. But he wondered if this was what being haunted felt like. Did it feel like something just out of reach? He was pretty sure it was supposed to be scary. But the presence didn’t feel malicious, it just felt scared. Like something following him not to hurt him but to hide.

God I haven’t picked up this thing in ages. Simon’s been telling me to write in it more. Something about it helping me process everything that’s happened.
I cannae believe it’s been ten years. A fucking decade since the start of all this shit. It feels like yesterday and it feels like it’s been a lifetime. Time seems to pass differently now. I don’t know why. I don’t even know what started it all. There’s so much that happened. It comes back in bits and pieces. And Simon helps where he can. I guess it started in Kastovia really. Way back when I was so green I could walk into a tree and they couldn’t find me. That was the beginning of my way in. Back when the team that’s become my family was nothing more than a list of names and a mission.
If I trace back the threads of this fucking mess that’s where it all started. That’s when everything started to go wrong.
