Summary
Jabber always broke his toys, he either played too rough with them or simply discarded them when he got bored. The only thing Jabber ever invested effort into was his poisons and, of course, Mankira.
But that day, when the frenzy drained out of his body and he gazed up at Zanka, weapon raised to strike him down like some kind of furious angel he was hooked.
Even though Zanka ended up twitching on the ground Jabber knew the cleaner had more to give. So he decided to play the long game; toy with Zanka to see how far if he would bend or simply break.
But to Jabber's delight he never did, every time he beat Zanka the boy came back for a rematch with more of that burning determination.

Summary
Zanka’s breaths are short and wet– he’s not long for this world. Without his mask and with that gaping wound in his chest, anyone can see that he’s not going to survive more than another minute or so. Jabber sits beside him, giddy with anticipation as he waits for Zanka's inevitable death.
Jabber gets trapped in a time loop where Zanka dies, over and over. It doesn't bother him- he loves the look on Zanka's face as the light fades from his eyes- until he comes to a few realisations about himself, and then it really, really does.

Summary
Lance was looking back at the mouth of the cavern, yelling as loud as the rest of them as he kicked at the creature tearing and pulling at his leg. It was going to take them all down if someone didn’t do something.
Hunk saw the exact moment Lance got it in his head that that someone had to be him. Their eyes met again for a longer moment. This time though, Hunk knew exactly what words were coming out of Lance's mouth.
“I’m sorry, buddy,” he shouted, fitting one of his grins onto his face, the one that always meant trouble, that always meant detention, that always meant adventure. It was the one Lance always wore when he wanted everyone to think he knew exactly what he was doing. Hunk was stunned by how out of place it was and maybe that’s why it was so easy for Lance to shove him and Pidge away.
Lance didn’t scream as he went over the edge, but Hunk did.
