When Chiyo finally gets on the subway to head for home, the sky is already dark overhead. The artificial glow of the station departure boards and the numbers on her phone are one minute apart, caught in the space between 6:48 and 6:49 PM. It’s the tail end of autumn. The days are getting colder. She wraps her scarf tighter around herself, slips into a seat as the compartment doors slide noiselessly shut behind her. Outside, the city lights blur as they zip past, and she releases a sigh, allows herself that much.
Or: Future fic in which Sakura Chiyo falls in love with love.
