Summary
It happens in a second.
Ava's plan for escaping the tarask at the Church was perfect, until it wasn't. Until Beatrice was torn from her arms, and left at the mercy of the creature.
By the time Ava gets to her, Beatrice might have more than a few scars.
With the threat of Adriel and his demons looming over them, Ava and Beatrice barely have time to process the aftermath of the tarask attack. Constant pain, injuries that refuse to heal, nightmares and visions that make Beatrice question the reality around her and inside her own brain ... and on top of it all, a mysterious voice that keeps telling her there's no way to win this war, but to turn on her family and the person she loves the most.

Summary
Beatrice may not be the sister warrior she used to be, but there were a few things that never changed, and the joy of beating Ava in sparring practice was one of them. She wasn't even a sister anymore, to be fair, the warrior part still remained and, with that, the small bite of pride of her battle abilities. Ava was stronger, faster, and undoubtedly more powerful now.

Summary
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful. It does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Out of all the people on both sides of the family, Nainai, her paternal grandmother, had always been the closest (and maybe the only one) to actually loving Beatrice for who she was. Without conditions. Without ties to her performance or abilities. Almost...
There was always the possibility that that love would disappear once she learnt the truth about Beatrice, what she was. And the fear of discovering it had haunted Beatrice for years.
Now she's presented what it seems like an answer.

Summary
Mass was something calming. Structured rituals, one after another, with clear rules. Beatrice knew what was expected from her, knew what to do, and how to behave. It didn’t matter that she wasn’t wearing her habit, the act of participating in mass has been engraved in her practically since birth. And yet, the first Sunday she set foot in the church, she was unsettled.
The mass was in German.
A Swiss church, a mass directed in German.
