Summary
Doppo has been told his entire life - by the media, by his teachers - that a person's soulmate is the one they're supposed to spend their lives with. They never told him what to do if he lost his soulmate. A part of him wants to see the looks on all of their faces when they realise his life is here, in his arms in the form of the mystery of Dazai Osamu, both of their soulmates taken from them before they could truly appreciate them.

Instead, he woke up in a bed with soft white linens that smelled too strongly of pine detergent. Next to a mahogany nightstand with a glass of water and two Advil on it. Awoken by the sound of running water. He wondered briefly how much he’d had to drink, to not only have fallen asleep somewhere strange but to not remember falling asleep there in the first place. Last his mind could recall he had safely passed out in the alley behind the bar, too lazy to continue searching further than the flattened cardboard he’d found while following a stray cat.

“Oh?” Dazai sprawls across the booth, the lazy drawl to his voice tipped into the question to disguise how much he actually wants to know the answer. “And what makes you say that?”
“Because you’re Dazai,” Kunikida says, tone as serious and hardwired as the rock-solid foundation he’s hewn from. A statement, a fact. “I can’t imagine there’s anything you wouldn’t be able to do, if you really wanted it.”
