Adrien jumped back from the door just before his father opened it. Gabriel glowered down at his son with an expression of stern disapproval, but his voice sounded bewildered, even a little scared, when he said, "Adrien?"
Adrien held up the paper he had clutched in his hand. "Permission slip...signature...I came..."
Gabriel sighed. "How much did you hear?"
Adrien considered lying but he could see that his father knew that he knew. "You're Shadowmoth?" he whispered disbelievingly.
