Francesca has been single for a long time and she's content with how her life is, but her family wants her to put herself out there and have some fun. A one night stand, those are fun, right? Michaela looks at her and sighs.
“It’s incredible how stubborn you are. I think you might be the most stubborn member of your family, and that’s saying something.”
Francesca tightens her grip on the wheel.
“Well, forgive my stubbornness. But there’s nothing you can say or do that will make me change my mind. We will be arriving at Kilmartin tonight.”
Michaela scoffs.
“You really think I couldn’t get you to pull over if I tried?”
“You are trying. You have been for the last fifteen minutes.”
Michaela shifts and pulls both of her legs up into her seat, angling her body towards Francesca.
“You think I can’t try harder?”

University AU where Francesca is supposed to be in a perfectly loving relationship with her boyfriend, John, with a sensible future of marriage and children on the horizon, right up until John's cousin, Michaela Stirling, returns from a sabbatical abroad and Francesca finds herself, suddenly, hopelessly curious about another woman in ways that are utterly nonsensical.
Now Francesca finds herself unable to stay away and trying very hard not to think about why telling Michaela she and John are dating feels like it would ruin everything. Surely keeping that little detail about her relationship status cannot be seen as lying if Michaela never asked. Right?
