“I’m not sure what you mean,” Gwen said, not turning around. She had never been a good liar, not to Morgana anyway. They knew each other too well, too thoroughly.
“It’s not fair,” Morgana said.
“It’s the way the world is,” Gwen said softly, and it was the gentlest she’d been with Morgana in ages.
“I mean,” Morgana said, and swallowed again. It shouldn’t be this hard.
“Morgana?”
“I loved you first.”

Arthur, it's me! Merlin abandoned his grip on the sleeve as well as his dignity and stood up on Arthur's palm, grasping at his shirt with both forepaws. He stared urgently into the man's eyes as they refocused on him. It's Merlin! Gwen's friend! I've been turned into a ferret!
