Summary
It’s hard to believe in love when you grow up in the pleasure district. Maomao grew up knowing love as something transactional, and when someone forgot that all they got was ruin. The dead woman living in the Verdigris annex was proof of that, so forgive her if she didn’t want to be part of the life of the man who carelessly ruined her.
Unfortunately, she hadn’t even gotten back from her first party as a courtesan when her birth father had already bought out her contract. “I’m taking you home”, like she was supposed to be happy about that. Worse than having to protect her body, she has to protect her heart. Maomao refused to end up like her foolish mother.

Summary
Maomao and Jinshi have finally settled into their life as husband and wife and their roles within the palace as the Moon Prince and Princess Consort. Jinshi paid for the whole night, but the reason why is far more innocent than Maomao expects. Jinshi's reason might be innocent, but as soon as he meets the brilliant and beautiful woman he quickly starts to fall head over heels. He might be able to convince her to assist with his investigation, but can he convince her to trust him with her heart?
A fic that draws on elements of canon, but is not actually canon. An AU where Maomao is a courtesan at Verdigris House. The palace is plagued with mysterious deaths, and Jinshi suspects poison. He's told of a courtesan that has knowledge of medicine and poison, and seeks her out with the intention of requesting her assistance with the investigation.
