Summary
Neil had always known things were gonna end up this way. As he lit his cigarette, watching the burning car go up in flames with his baby in his arms, he knew this was just the beginning.
"Don't ever let your father find out about him, and you must remember the rules. Don't detour from them, boy," was the last thing his mother said to him before she bled out and, unfortunately, had to gas it up with fluid and lit up the car.
Neil and his mother got caught before they could escape. His father forced a woman onto Neil, saying he'll need a heir after he's done with him. Neil didn't know the girl, as she didn't know him. They both didn't want to do it, but with a hatchet in his father's hand, they had no choice.
Back to the flaming car scene, he knew he had to go before people started showing up. He glanced back at the beach, savoring the moment, and then he was gone with his baby in his hands, clutched tightly like he would never let him go.
Or AU where Neil is forced to have a son with a random girl for the father to inherit a right heir. The baby has Neil's blue eyes and his mother's black hair.

Summary
Nathaniel has spent years surviving the Moriyama court by enduring Prince Riko’s cruelty and keeping his world as small as possible. Mostly, that means Jean and their promise to survive together. For a long time, it had been enough to get through one day and then the next.
But Riko’s experiments on Nathaniel start to go right in horrifying ways and Nathaniel realizes he only has two choices- break the one promise that has kept him and Jean alive by leaving him behind, or stay and become a weapon Riko can use to destroy the country.
The only person who might be able to help is an insolent Druid elf locked deep in Evermore’s dungeons.

Some things unfold differently than in canon.
In this version, Neil is THE best striker, and Riko hates him for it.
Side notes: In my story, Riko is not the main villain. He is a minor wannabe antagonist, a cheap imitation of the kind Nathaniel grew up with. But still gruel
Also, Andrew is not medicated and the relationship with Aaron is better than in canon. Not warm, God no - we’re talking about the Minyards - but tolerable.
