Maybe I just came here to collect my reward for my hard work today. I did a good job, you know. It's all clean upstairs, go ask Noelle. Not a speck of dust to be found. I even dressed for the occasion — well, not while I was actually cleaning, for obvious reasons — but now I'm here," Lohen said, licking his lips, "to celebrate."
"To celebrate," Varka repeated dully.
"There's time," Lohen said, sliding the Varka's papers across the desk and pushing himself back and up onto the now free space. At this height, he was level with Varka, and the close proximity made Varka's head spin, especially when Lohen leaned forward to murmur, "Plenty of time for a treat."
Please keep your Lohen properly entertained. Without sufficient mental stimulation, he may resort to drastic measures.

In a frightingly short time, Lohen had become a part of his life and his heart, in the shape of a small ring, engraved with a Cecilia flower. A promise for a possible future. Now in the second year of their relationship, their toothbrushes sat side by side in the bathroom, they owned each other’s keys and had spare clothes at their places. Lohen would let his back open in bed.
And he would watch over that back, ready to defend him against all the odds that would try to crash at him.

Lohen, who had been walking closer to the table, looks over at him. "Hm? Oh, no no no," he chuckles, waving a hand. "I'm just here to make sure our Grand Master doesn't work himself to death." Lohen talks with a slight purr, blowing a bubble. "Someone has to, after all," he says casually, shrugging his shoulders.
Despite what he says, what he does, there's a certain tension radiating from him that's hard to miss. It's one he's well acquainted with seeing on the knight after knowing him for so long. Lohen puts on airs, seeming casual and flippant. He smiles like there isn't a problem, deflecting with an ill mannered joke like this one. But Varka sees past that. He sees the uneasiness in his steps, how his eyes linger on certain points in the room for a touch too long. Lohen holds himself like he's ready to strike at any moment, keeping weapons in easy reach. Or, if needed, bolt for the exit.
Varka's more than willing to bet Lohen didn't come here right after getting back to camp. He doesn't miss the exhaustion in the other's eyes either.

Varka holds onto the end of his tail with his free hand as Lohen shifts on his lap, keeping it from wagging embarrassingly. Before he can overthink it, he downs the drink all in one go, letting the burning sugariness clog up his throat.
It doesn't have the unmistakable taste of medicine that Lohen usually taints his drinks with. Confusion washes over Varka for a second, until he sees Lohen chuckle.
"Alright! Let's get you back home before it hits."
The wolf walks right into the rabbit's trap.

The door swings open, heavy footsteps meeting the floor underneath. He doesn't look up to see who it is, he doesn't have to. A weight drops beside him, a silent but comforting presence all the same. Neither say anything, not immediately. They simply find something to stare at, their breaths the only sounds they make. There was a time where he hated how well it seemed the Grand Master could read him, believing it to be an opening for control to be taken from him. But now? He finds himself grateful for it, even extends some trust with it.
"Well," he finally breaks the silence, figuring he might as well do it first. Get in his final word before the hammer swings down. "Guess that's that then, huh?" His hand falls to his lap, limp. Varka makes no move to answer. "The great heroes defeated the big bad villain and uncovered the remains of his influence while the sinner cleaned up his mistakes." A dry laugh fills the air, his heart isn't really in it. "At least I had one last hurrah. Certainly wasn't the way I imagined it, but eh, beggars can't be choosers."

He finally looks up, and stood before him was a man with dark hair tied in a low ponytail that trailed down to his waist. He had a decent build, broad shoulders and defined muscles barely outlined by his white dress shirt, his sleeves partially rolled up and exposing his forearms. His eyes were the colour of cor lapis, and the ends of his hair strands had the slightest tint of amber.
“—s-serving you today...” Childe was absolutely mesmerised.
“Ah, you’re here,” the man spoke, and Childe suppressed the urge to scream.
Fuck, that voice. It was a pleasant baritone. Serene and tranquil, an excellent match to the elegance and poise the man exuded.
When he heard that his client was a rich man in his thirties, he was expecting someone a little... different. Someone crude, someone snobby, someone unpleasant. But this man, Zhongli, if Childe remembers correctly, was the furthest from that. And so he stands stunned, his mouth agape as he stared at the most beautiful man he’d ever laid eyes upon.
