He’s never slept next to someone before.
If you don’t count the dogs in the Redcliffe Castle stables, or the times that the other Templars-in-training stumbled face-first onto his mattress in the middle of the night and fell asleep before he could tell them it was the wrong bunk, then he’s slept alone his entire life. He never thought twice about it before, because he’s big and likes to spread out when he sleeps and has always been somewhat of a restless sleeper even before the Darkspawn nightmares, but after sharing a tent with Hilda for a few nights, he realizes that she’s the first person he’s ever shared a bed with on purpose. (Well, it’s a bedroll in the middle of the woods, but - it’s basically the same thing.)
He still finds it hard to believe that it’s happening.
