Ignore that yes, Dean gave him a mixtape like a sixteen-year-old and Cas didn’t understand the implications. Ignore that Cas still doesn’t know that he snaps and yells and tells Cas to fuck off and stop trying to be the hero because Dean knows what Cas doesn’t want him to, and Cas doesn’t know what Dean wants him to.

Phoenix Wright was dating a woman, who Doug knew from first-hand experience could be very charming when she wanted to be. Phoenix professed to be in love with this woman after just a couple of months. He also cared enough about a guy friend that he was apparently willing to move heaven and earth just for a chance to talk to him.
Which made Doug think, suddenly, of the times he’d seen Phoenix with Dahlia, the sort of stiff expression he’d sometimes get around her, the over-the-top gestures of romance, his insistence that he really loves her, actually, just fuck off, Doug!
Who was he trying to convince, exactly?

Summary
What does John see when he looks at Cas?
Cas doesn’t look like a monster.
But neither does Dean.
John stands, slow. He holds out a hand. Calloused like Dean’s hands are calloused. Scarred the same way that Dean’s hands are scarred. There’s the smell of him in the air too. Earthy and dark, slightly sour around the edges. The room feels suddenly choked with it. Claustrophobic.
Cas probably smells like the fabric softener they buy in bulk at Costco, but so does Dean so he can’t tell.
John says, toneless, “I hear you’ve been driving my car.”
