Summary
Understanding people is something Alastor is not always skilled at. But while people can be challenging- their possessions are much easier to understand.
And so he collects. In his little nest of a bed in which he dwells, tucked into the corner of his room at the Hotel- that is where his collection lays. And because Charlie makes it a point to enforce the good manners of respecting one’s privacy- and likely because everyone is just a little scared of him- no one ever looks in his rooms. His collection is a secret kept only by himself.
It’s not a problem. He could stop any time, if he so wished.
But why would he stop when the taking is so much fun?
Or: In which Alastor is a creepy little fuck and steals trivial possessions of those he cares about. No one notices, until Lucifer does.

Summary
Lucifer and Alastor had only just begun dating when Lucifer informs Alastor that he needs to leave for a couple months to handle some royal duties in the other rings. Just before the king leaves, Lucifer gives Alastor his snake to keep him company, and Alastor sends his shadow to accompany Lucifer on his trip around Hell.
In other words, they outsource their affection and bonding time to third parties.
