Summary
Eddie’s snapped back to the present by a thunderous cackle and a subsequent stupefied splutter. Theo’s just blown flour right into Buck’s face.
Eddie’s grin only grows when he sees Christopher slap a palm over his mouth, sniggering at Buck’s expense.
“Morning, gang,” he greets, keen to jump into the mayhem.
Buck pivots abruptly and drops the whisk with a clank. Eddie thinks he’d be raising two hands in surrender if not for them being occupied with gathering Theo up in both arms, powdered face fish-mouthing as he registers Eddie’s presence.
Theo’s eyes widen comically. “Teddy!” he screeches, immediately making grabby hands.
“Shit,” Buck gripes.
“Swear jar,” Chris contributes smugly, tilting the crown of his head back into Eddie’s sternum as he squeezes his teenager’s shoulders and drops a kiss to his forehead. “Happy birthday, Dad.”
or: Eddie turns thirty-four.

Summary
Between the two of them, even before-- all of this, which is to say the kissing and the cuddling and the bodies pressed into each other under the sheets, it was always a little bit of a guessing game on who was going to wake up first. Sometimes it would be Buck, the smell of breakfast and soft humming and the clunking noise of living that Buck can never quite contain. Sometimes it's Eddie, who quietly prepares for the day ahead of them, packing Buck's duffel alongside his own with the ease of love worn smooth at the edges.
With this, though--
-- with this, everything shifts, ever so slightly.
Buck and Eddie, in the mornings.

Summary
Silence stretches between them like a cord about to snap. They don’t speak, and anyone watching would just see them, Buck-and-Eddie, looking out at the cityscape at night, at the stars, up at that helicopter circling downtown.

Summary
Buck cradles him, almost, moves Eddie’s head to rest gently in the crevice of his elbow. He doesn’t stop touching him, feather-light all over, from his cheek to his hair to his waist to his thigh and all the way back up again. Like he’s trying to fit a lifetime of love in a single movement. Like he’s finally starting to accept that this is all they’ve been allowed. Like he can see the color draining from Eddie’s face despite him just having been shocked back to life.
Buck and Eddie get trapped in an elevator.
