Jude frowned slightly. “Why does this sound like you have an ulterior motive?”
Haaland let out a soft laugh. “Why would I? I’m not throwing the match, if that’s what you’re thinking. Sorry, I love fucking you… but I also love winning.”
Jude went quiet, turning the idea over in his head. It could actually work. If he won and Haaland got to take what he wanted from him afterwards, he’d feel less guilty. And if he lost… he could release all that tension on Haaland and move on.
“No limits?” he asked.
“No limits,” Haaland confirmed, his eyes darkening.

“No, who do you think you’re talking to?” Haaland growled. The sound reverberated in the air, making a shiver run down Jude’s spine, but not out of fear. Later, all alone in his bedroom, he would have enough time to think about his reaction. For now, all he could do was watch the scene in front of him with unblinking eyes, entranced. “This isn’t an ordinary person, and you’re not at a pub chatting with your mates and spitting prejudiced bullshit. “Shut up,” Jude laughs, his face crimson now. “You are so cringe. You know it’s not like that. We’re just friends.”
Jobe rolls his eyes playfully.
“We are!” Jude insists. “Come on. Think of what I’m dealing with here. When you turn twenty-one, wouldn’t you rather marry someone you actually like?”
“I know,” Jobe says softly, kissing his brother’s cheek. “I get it. I’m just teasing you. I don’t envy you. I know you wouldn’t be doing this if you didn’t have to. And I want you to find some sort of happiness from your marriage. So if you have to marry someone, it might as well be him.”
