An active 23 year old, under normal circumstances, needs 2500 to maintain their weight. There may be wiggle room for under or over, but if Callum was a normal 23 year old, that’s how much he would have to eat.
But Callum isn’t a normal 23 year old. A normal 23 year old doesn’t forget his boyfriends. He doesn’t change his cells on his own volition. But Callum does. Which is why it’s odd that people expect him to need a normal caloric intake.
