Take care of him? Take care of a grown man with the sniffles? And sure, maybe he owed him it; maybe Jay had made him shitty soup a while ago but that was because he wanted to, and all Matt had wanted to do then was make a fucking plan.
And so — amidst his efforts involving bananas and video games and “drugging”, if you really want to call it that — make a plan, he did.

Jay was acting weird.
Matt was beginning to spiral, wracking his brains for what he might've done to offset things. He thought they'd been getting better, thought he’d been getting better. About fighting less, about honesty, about listening to criticism and talking through their emotions rather than lashing out. Jay himself had pointed out the improvement. He told Matt he was proud, that he was happy, before he stopped telling Matt anything at all.
