The conversation was relatively normal, considering the four of them were very unaccustomed to spending time around each other outside of pack-related issues. Stiles educated the table about pyroclastic surges. Peter spoke with his usual magniloquence about the most recent novel he’d had the pleasure of experiencing. It wasn’t until Chris mentioned buying a new couch for his office, and Peter took over to praise its comfortableness, that Derek’s thoughts began to derail from the conversation.
