    Shane and Jackie both nearly jumped out of their skin when they heard a loud, metallic bang from across the park. The whole park was suddenly quiet, and the following few seconds felt like they were stretched into minutes. Shane quickly turned around and looked at the playground for his kids, instinctively needing to make sure they were okay. His eyes found them quickly, and relief briefly filled his body. Both kids apparently in one piece and accounted for.

    He kept looking around, his feet now picking up speed as they numbly carried him forward.

    Shane felt a sudden rush of cold over his body. “Where’s Ilya?” he quietly said to himself. He knew Ilya would’ve stayed near their son. So where was he?

     

    OR: Ilya is more than used to hockey injuries. This time, however, his most recent concussion happens off the ice and involves his own child, and no one in the Hollander-Rozanov family handles it well.

    "No," Shane whines. "No, I'm not. M'fine… just give me a minute." The words come out mushed, slurred together and obscured by Shane's heavy breathing. "We're gonna, we're gonna have sex. I need you inside me."

    "Okay," Ilya says, disbelieving.
