Summary
“...Good knights are seen, and not heard.”
It’s such an absurd statement that Michaela barked out an indignant laugh, hand coming up to rest on her chest. She thinks she preens under her gaze, seemingly proud that she was able to make her laugh with such a sentence.
However, hearing her speak for the first time, Michaela thinks she understood, now, why she was silent for such a long time. She took a careful step forward, bringing her hand up to her metal visor. “May I?” Michaela asked gently, “I just want to see something.”
The knight cleared her throat, “Do I have a choice?”
“Of course you do,” Michaela answered, pulling her hand back a fraction. “You can say no and I will move on. I was just curious.”
She heard the knight swallow harshly, the metal of her armor squeaking when she nodded her head after a terse moment. “Okay,” She said, voice quiet. “You may, Your Highness.”

“Does your mother know of your departure?”
Michaela sits a little straighter, not expecting the question. “Yes,” She answers, nodding once. “I sent a note to inform her before I left. I'll be sure to send another note to her when we arrive."
She adds after a moment, forcing a small smile. “I'm sure she will appreciate it.”
“Yes,” Lady Danbury agrees noncommittally, her hand securely on her tea cup. She brings it up for another sip, shorter this time, and continues, “And what of Lady Kilmartin? Was she made aware?”
The sting of hearing her name, even just her title, surprises her. It's a sting in her heart, but it is an unbearable weight deep in her chest. She almost cannot breathe with it there.
She swallows harshly, tapping her finger against her own cup once, twice. She nods, “Yes,” Michaela says, though it is a lie. “I informed Lady Kilmartin myself of my departure.”

Summary
Johnny swallows harshly, only to find a laugh bubbling up in the back of his throat. It’s too much to suppress, too much to swallow down with his saliva– and when he opens his mouth and lets it out, it's a grotesque and mangled thing. It’s bitter, laden with unshed tears that’ll likely never see the light of day, and it’s awful, and nothing about this is funny– but, there’s an irony to it, he supposes. A toast to the ball that hit the net; A toast to fate.
The ball hit the net, and Johnny finally understands.

“Whatever you say, Princess,” She replies. She crawls over hesitantly, settling down on the blanket at the far edge, not wanting to encroach on Lottie’s space. Lottie, however, beats her to it– she scoots over a little bit, their knees nearly knocking together. “I wasn’t sure if Her Highness wanted a measly peasant on her fine-threaded blanket.”
“I practice philanthropy,” Lottie shrugs, but the furrow of her brow, the careful, confused smile betrays her. “What’s with the… princess?”
If Nat didn’t know better, she’d think she was blushing.
“Cause you’re, like, a Disney Princess,” She says, raising an eyebrow. Lottie only looks more confused. Nat lets out an exasperated breath, more fond than annoyed, “Dude, you sit in nature, for one. Second, you go out into the forest and sing to the animals–”
“–I never said I sang–”
“–That’s called making an inference, Princess,” Nat stares at her, and Lottie stares at her too, and Nat stares back. Neither of them back down.
Lottie, too, raises an eyebrow, “Where I come from, they call that jumping to conclusions.”

Summary
In the millions of people that roam Teyvat, only one doesn't dismiss the princess’ foolishness, or weep at her cursed fate. No, instead, this woman rages, sky crackling with lightning as her anger builds, and builds, and builds, yet never falls over the precipice, yet she never sheds a tear. This woman, too, is a lesson in what happens when one steps too far out of the comfort zone. Her story, however, is different from the Old Remurian Princess’ story- whereas the princess fell, she never embraced her descent.
Not this woman. This woman fell, and she fell, and she fell- just as deep as the old princess did, and she bathed in it. She reveled in the darkness that enveloped her, she celebrated it.
