What? He looked down, expecting to see blood or broken skin. All he saw was Laios kneeling before him, hands on his thighs.
“I see it. Plain as day. You’re walking around, bleeding out, pretending like you aren’t. It makes me sad,”
Kabru swallowed, trying to understand what he meant. Sometimes it felt like a riddle, overly cryptic and beautifully simplistic.
“You’re bearing your teeth, hoping we won’t notice. Hoping that if you’re scary enough, the thing that’s trying to eat you will back off,”

Now, staring down the looming reality of living out the rest of their days in this way, Kabru takes it upon himself to cheer Laios up. How? The only way he knows how: talking about people.

Kabru’s second try at a smile was genuine. Almost dopey at the unadulterated joy on Laios’ face. This was what Kabru was trying to do, the thing that made all his prior foolishness worthwhile. If he could give Laios this happiness, he would put up with all the embarrassment in the world. And wasn’t that a thought.
“I really am glad. I know all of the nuances can be confusing and frustrating, but it’s the sheer complexity of the way people act that’s fascinating to me. I think it’s very rewarding to work through the puzzle in order to see the bigger picture. Maybe in time you could feel the same way,” Kabru spoke softly, feeling oddly buoyant.
“I’d like that, I think,” Laios returned a dopey smile of his own.

Diluc first met Zhongli in the final year of his sojourn around Teyvat. When he decides it's time to return home to Mondstadt, he intends to make a clean cut in their companionship - but a goodbye is never so straightforward.
Almost two years later, Diluc is brought back to Liyue Harbor in his efforts to help Aether. He and Zhongli meet again, despite being so sure that they'd go the rest of their lives estranged, and attempt to recognize the relationship they've spent the better part of three years wanting.

Two weeks ago, Albedo woke up blind and was pulled from the mountains to rest in the city. There is the expectation for his sight to improve but as he privately begins to uncover the cause of his blindness, he knows that his eyesight cannot be recovered.
What’s more, Albedo finds himself frequently in Kaeya’s care and company, leaving him vulnerable to feelings and experiences that he’s spent his whole life rejecting.
Without his sight, Albedo has to grapple with all of the ways in which his life will change — and he is so desperate for familiarity that he’s hellbent on forcing some things to stay the same.

And what a fun little kick to the gut that is, the realization that not only had he been played by all sides, but he's also being tossed aside like trash now that his use had run its course.
It’s not that Childe doesn’t get it. He’s a Harbinger. He knows first-hand what it means to do his duty, to put the mission first and his personal feelings far, far away, preferably locked up in a box, where it wouldn’t interfere with his job. He knows what it’s like working with vipers, to scheme and plot and lie in wait for the opportune moment to stab his opponent in the back.
But this time, this time Childe can’t help but feel a little (a lot) gutted.
