"Yeah, well, I got the car packed while you talked. Food is prepped. Kids are in bed. We can leave first thing in the morning." Ilya's quiet confidence in running the household is something that Shane has yet to grow used to, even years later; his mother had once again expressed her worries that he not try to do everything alone, and he once again avoided telling her that he doesn't. Hasn't. That he hasn't done a single thing alone since he was nineteen and freshly-moved to Montreal – that before he had the pillar of Ilya's strength at his side to lean on, he had been something of the same for Jackie and Hayden.
And he does lean against that strength, slumping to the side until he catches himself against the familiar shape of Ilya's shoulder. "Thank you," he says quietly. Gratefully. Like it isn't Ilya's exact job to do things like this.
As if sensing the thought, Ilya rolls his eyes. "Is in the job description."
