    A young man entered the cafe at speed, wild-eyed and panting. He locked eyes with Suguru and a moment later had vaulted over the counter and crouched at his feet, back pressed against the bar.

    Suguru watched this happen with the vague detachment of the extremely overtired. He thought absently that it was lucky he’d cleaned up the drinks or they would have impeded what had been a rather impressive hurdle. The athlete in question was looking up at him with the most stunning blue eyes he’d ever seen.

    He looked fucking terrified.

    “I’m sorry, Satoru… I know you don’t want to be my friend anymore,” mutters Suguru, the corners of his lips downturned. He hides his face under the blanket.

    Satoru’s heart shatters into a million pieces. “What are you talking about? Who else would listen to me talk about Digimon for hours?”

    He crawls into bed, nestling closely against Suguru to prove to his silly friend that he won’t get rid of him anytime soon. He reaches for Suguru’s hand under the blanket and squeezes it. It’s the only way he knows how to tell Suguru I’m here. I’ll always be here.

    Suguru will always be Satoru's best friend.
