"I thought we agreed to get up at 7AM today, so we'd be done by lunch."
A solid plan; get up early, clean for a few hours, and then have lunch and take it easy the rest of the day. A true have your cake and eat it too, you get a clean house and a lazy Sunday.
It sounded exactly like something Richie would say and then forget 2 seconds later, something he would never actually commit to.
"On a Sunday? In that legal?" Richie asked, sitting back up in his chair and resting his elbows on the counter. "I have no memory of agreeing to that, I would never agree to that."

“Slow down, Eds,” Richie said, a low laugh behind his words. “A bit of cold won’t kill you.”
“No, it will.”
Richie popped his head through the open door and looked at Eddie, furrowing his brows as he gave Eddie a once over.
“Ok, well first off – it's 200 degrees in this car and you’re wearing a winter jacket and a beanie. You’re probably wearing 16 layers under that as well,” Richie said, finally getting into the car and starting to put his seatbelt on. Eddie stared at the still open door. “Secondly, you’re looking flush as hell. I think it’s a better chance of the heat killing you than the cold.”
Eddie shook his head, the zipper of his jacket scraping just under his chin. “No, the cold will definitely kill me.”
Eddie and Richie drive in the snow, results may surprise you.

Summary
They had known each other for so long. Eddie didn't remember when the feelings changed. He just knew that one day he had looked at Richie's lopsided grin and bespectacled face and felt a firm grip crushing around his heart. The sun over Derry had seemed brighter that day, the air a little sweeter. And Eddie had never lost that feeling.
Their teenage years had been spent with too long looks, too firm touches, and loud, unnecessary fights.
With late nights on the roof outside of Richie's room as they passed a cigarette back and forth. Eddie's skin burning hot with the thought of the indirect kiss that lingered on the cigarette filter as he took a sharp inhale, the heat from the smoke burning in his lungs in the same way.
They had been close to twenty when Richie had leaned in close, stopping nervously right in front of Eddie's face. The smell of tar from a hot roof hung in the air, and Eddie had turned away. We shouldn't, he had said. Let's not ruin what we have, Rich.
Eddie was difficult, hard to love. Ragged edges that pulled your skin raw. Richie would be disappointed and bored, and he would leave. Staying friends was easier.
