“And you on soft sentimentality,” Aventurine counters with a grin. “Look carefully, doc! I’m just a drunk man. Drunk on success, drunk on his own pitiable luck, and…” Aventurine drops his arms, letting them hang limply beside him. He hiccups, grin morphing into a lop-sided smirk. “And drunk on you, my dear doctor.”

That's what he thought as he approached Ratio, and in turn, he didn't even have to speak a word, just glared, grabbed him by the wrist, and threw him against the mattress.
So Aventurine thinks he's safe, that this will be usual business.
