Summary
Dennis Whitaker wades through the spiky grass and the summer heat with a heavy oppressive weight on his shoulders from being the youngest of five siblings in a household that only rewards what he’s not. Maybe his mother was right. He’d been stumbling in the dark for so long, scrambling to find any sort of relief to his mother’s condition and to his family’s tensions without having any instruction on which course to take. But then here comes Dr. Michael Robinavitch, tall and commanding and well-versed on the matter of making people feel better. And maybe Dennis could learn a thing or two.

Summary
Dennis had become a constant presence at the edge of their workshop, the son of a merchant who comes from one of those well-off households that can afford to buy art the way Robby buys paint, and he ended up staying with Abbot long enough to become familiar to Robby. A shoulder here, a hand there. The same throat, the same profile, turned three different ways across three different panels, repeated in saints and martyrs along Abbot’s work. Robby noticed, of course he did.
