Unfortunately, the couch was already taken. Raph was sprawled across his side, looking about as done with the world as Leo currently felt, staring at his phone that had gone dark. He looked up before Leo could leave, catching his eyes. “Damn,” he muttered, “you look like shit.”
Leo huffed. “Like you’re one to talk.” Then, his voice softer, he asked: “What’s up?”
For a moment, Raph just looked at him, clearly debating whether or not to say anything. He sighed, eventually, Leo having successfully worn him down with his incessant stare. “Feels like my whole body got thrown off a roof and then run over by a truck.”

Leo smelt the antiseptic before they reached Don's lab. His heart skipped a beat as he supported Raph's weight, "Almost there." Blood had soaked through their makeshift bandages, turning the gauze a dark red that dripped steadily onto the floor. His brother's breath hitched - not just pain this time. Leo recognized that edge of fear. It was rare enough in Raph that it made his own chest tighten.

Raphael has promised to help Mrs. Morrison move some furniture, and the fact that he got his shell kicked the night before is irrelevant as far as he's concerned. Leo has a little something to say about it, but brothers are easily brushed off. A maternal figure like Mrs. Morrison, on the other hand, commands a bit more respect.

It’s a raw, honest answer. Raph’s tough guy act has never once fooled anyone in their family. Mikey compared the visage once to a cat trying to look bigger than they were, as an act of protection. The bite definitely hurts, but the bark is still worse. Yet because of the tough personality, Raph is rarely one for words. He shows his affections in other ways instead. Picking up Mikey’s favorite snack while out, hitting the record button on the DVR for that Tesla documentary that Don’s been wanting to watch, learning how to brew Leo’s favorite tea blend. Silent things that he can do in the background with little to no fuss. So when that silence turns into actual words, the recipient knows how genuine their brother is being.
Or;
Leonardo purposely ignores his body's warnings, and how much it robs him over time.

Summary
Raph woke up to a feeling that tasted sour coating his head. His mouth was dry, like he'd gone without drinking for a week, but even just the idea of that made nausea clog up his throat. His thoughts were heavy, clouded in a way that stuck to his skin like honey and made him want to bash his head in. His limbs dragged his body down, too heavy to be moved but also too brittle to carry his weight.
Still, somehow despite all of that, he pushed himself up—and immediately regretted it. Vertigo hit him like a tidal wave. Raph let himself fall back onto his bed, too afraid of toppling over if he stayed upright a second longer.

“In fact, I bet you like doing what he tells you to do.” Their weapons clashed and Leo leaned forward, beak-to-beak with his brother. “You probably love it.”
Raph’s breaths came harsh and ragged, the snarl on his face making him look more like the impulsive, emotional brother Leo knew. For the first time since the turtles broke into Shredder’s lair and laid eyes on him, he looked like Raph again. Leo could feel the way his brother’s arms quivered through his grip on his katanas, and he fought to hide the optimism-relief on his face behind a cocky raise of an eye ridge.
Then Donnie cried out behind him, followed by a crash, and it all fell apart again.
AKA I thought the "mind-controlled Raph" concept in Clash of the Mutanimals was CRIMINALLY underutilized and should've lasted at LEAST a few episodes.
