Summary: Klein, a Sequence 8, picked up Amon, a Sequence 9.
This is THE Monklein fic. It’s so sweet, but then it’s anxiety, fear and thrill. Klein is so in love, but he is still smart, brilliant, rational Klein we know; he doesn’t allow himself to be played, even if he can’t stop himself from falling in love. And Amon is still Amon, still the mythical creature who never bothered to consider humans his equals. He likes Klein very much but this feeling cannot stop him from trying to get what he wants. Honestly the author is so effortlessly good in conveying complex human emotions with few words. The way Amon at first alleviated Klein’s loneliness, only for it to end with Klein feeling more lonely than ever in his company. Masterpiece. And when in the end Amon didn't understand love and turned Klein's love for him into a sharp knife. Love is after all only a step away from hatred. And only once Klein defeats him, their relationship completely crumbling, do they have a chance to start anew, building something on equal ground. Absolute masterpiece
And also the layer of them being doomed to be enemies from the beginning. You can’t help but wonder if life was a little different, how would it have gone? -

I love the characterization of Grisha and Zhou Mingrui. There are so many parallels between them. Them being fated to become pillars. Them fated to bear a fate no human should bear. The price one has to pay in order to have a power of a god above gods. And other ‘transmigrators’ add beautifully to the story.
(I especially love seeing what if Zhou Mingrui awoke in 3rd epoch. ) -
