Summary
He has never experienced a relationship outside of friendship. He values his friendships more than any fantastical relationship books and songs conjure up in the minds of hormone-infested teenagers. Ranpo has never been the type of person to fall for such nonsense. He is convinced no soul alive or around could ever match up to his wits and intellect.
Ranpo is smart (an understatement), so he didn’t see this fact changing. Yet he keeps making this…small mistake, as he sees it.
... He is confused as to why this one guy in a few of his classes continues to make him trip over himself.

Summary
Chuuya clicked his tongue, a huff on his breath. “For once in your goddamn life, can you give me a straight answer, Mackerel?” His words were clipped, his throat clogged, and anyone else wouldn’t note a hint of any of it. Chuuya trained beneath the same woman Dazai did. Emotion was a treasure; it was a weapon; it was an Achilles’ heel. “I just wanna know if I’m plating you some food or not.”
Dazai had already begun walking towards him, his hands behind his back (so he didn’t allow himself to rush for a touch). “Chuu Chuu,” Dazai sang, “I wouldn’t leave you for anyone. I’m all yours tonight.” He aimed where he thought he should, hoping to hit a bullseye where he wasn’t completely certain there’d be one.
Chuuya swallowed, turning off the gas to the stove. His eyes met theirs whilst submerged in waters he hadn’t swam in before. Dazai couldn’t quite decipher what they saw. It wasn’t often they met Chuuya’s eyes and witnessed anything other than indifference or vehemence. What Dazai wanted there instead…

“Tell me, did you plan for this?” she idly broke the silence, ire coveted by quietude.
He didn’t want to confess. He hadn’t wanted her to know. Ranpo might have hoped she would have just figured it out herself, but he knew better than to hang onto that. “The possibility was always there,” Ranpo returned, taking another sip.
Kouyou scoffed, her presence falling closer. “Do not speak to me like that,” she sneered.
The possibility was there, but…
“Don’t act as if this was the intention,” she quietly spat.

“Who are you?” a voice questioned. Untethered from polite inquiry, the voice asked without reservation.
Dazai remained unmoved at its tone. Wasn’t the story meant to play out differently? Those who spoke to him knew of him, wasn’t that right?
No one spoke to the demon child.
But this keeper of petals so bright dared to. And it dared to do it again. “Hello? Anyone in there?” it said, impatience hooked in its words.

It was my pleasure writing this for DoAliensLikePasta (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
I really had to step out of my comfort zone, but look at what it lead to… the story completely got out of my own hands and I ended up writing way more than I had planned to.
Anyway, I sincerely hope you like it.
This plays in an AU with Omegaverse dynamics.
Mainly, I was thinking of how those dynamics could impact the plot in order to lead to a scenario like the one prompted?
And so I thought, with instincts and hormones playing a bigger role, some reactions and decisions would have deviated.
Chuuya rises to the top of an organization as King of the Sheep, supported by Verlaine and Rimbaud. They frequently cross paths with the Port Mafia, but there is a fragile stalemate.
Meanwhile, what if Dazai reacted more vengeful to Oda's death?
