Fourth year was supposed to be simple: a world cup match, a new timetable, and the usual chaos orbiting Harry.
Instead, Hermione starts noticing the small things everyone else ignores — the legal notices in the back of the paper, the quiet power behind certain families, and the way the rules around underage magic never seem to apply quite the same to everyone.

Giving Tony an odd look, Peter said, “I don’t live with the Leeds anymore.”
Tony blinked. “You don’t?”
“Yeah, I live with this other family in Manhattan now,” the kid replied. “Sorry, I thought I told you already. Must’ve slipped my mind.”
“Yeah, must’ve.” Tony tried not to feel…whatever emotion was bubbling to the surface.
OR: Peter gets a new foster family. Tony’s paranoid, but what else is new? (Hibernation. That’s…that’s definitely new.)

“Are you trying to get killed, Potter?” Malfoy drawls, stalking forward. Quick as a serpent himself, he reaches out and grabs the snake just below the head. It thrashes in his grip, but is no longer able to bite anyone. “This is a poisonous snake, and I doubt anyone brought a bezoar with them.”
Harry glares. He opens his mouth, and feels the beginning the snake’s language pass his lips, and this isn’t what he wants, what’s the point of insulting Malfoy if he can’t understand him –
Malfoy’s eyes widen. He slaps his hand over Harry’s mouth, “Potter, what the hell–”
