“Anything,” Buck said, his voice wavering on the word. Which was—it was weird, right? Why was Buck so shaken by a throwaway comment?
Or maybe the better question was why wasn’t Eddie? If either of them was going to get freaked out by the assumption that he was dating a man, it would make more sense for it to be Eddie, who was straight, and not Buck, who had, in fact, already dated men.

Summary
This dumb little flat box with a screen gives him far too much access—too many opportunities to act like a fool. He has the sudden urge to chuck it over the railing and listen to it shatter into a billion little pieces on the floor below.
He sort of wants to hurl himself over the railing, too. He could join his stupid, evil phone in a mess of broken glass and bones downstairs, and all his problems would be solved.
