Summary
Understand this; while Damian has grown fond of his current environment, he’d rather be caught dead than slandering his maternal side of the family.
He's more than aware how his former living conditions, while prepped and thoroughly planned, were less than ideal. Not to a degree that it was any less acceptable than his current ones (Damian doubts living as the prodigal son and going out only to get his head hit is the pinnacle of a golden childhood)— but it was his. It belonged to him. He knew that his livelihood wasn't conventional, but he loved it nevertheless.
Which is why he’s growing tired of all of these shenanigans and insane claims.
“I’m telling you! Ra’s had my spleen!”.
“Drake, I’ll be forced to hold your hands as I say this,” Damian sighed, tired and worn and missing his home, “But, no. He, in fact, doesn't.”
In which Damian takes down misconception after misconception, one stereotype at a time.

And Donatello decided that, no, he doesn’t mind— not as much as he used to, not as much as he’s supposed to. He’d do anything to gain a sense of normalcy, caters to just about anything that resembles even a fragment of his old life. Just anything that he can get for not having to acknowledge the world as it is now.
He doesn’t like it. He doesn’t even have to be fond of the idea either, but it’s out of sheer desperation that that made him commit to whatever shenanigans his younger brother wish. After all, he’d rather have this than when Mikey would hiss and growl, or those moments where he’d have his claws out, or those moments where Donnie would fight tooth and nail to get him out of a cage only for the younger to race back in.
That, Donatello decided, his heart couldn’t take.

It hits D3rlord3, then. This sounds like goodbye. No, no, no.
They start to pull away, and D3rlord3 desperately gathers his remaining strength to latch on to anything . Nothing wants to cooperate, his body suddenly aching with effort, but still he– fights. He grabs on to their hand, fighting through the smoke and haze, ignoring how his muscles scream in protest and his eyes sting, but it fades to nothing when D3rlord3 touches them again, something unreachable finally in his arms and he can't lose them, he can't—
“Stay,” he croaks out, begging.

D3rlord3 survives the King in Yellow, but he's forgetting someone important. It doesn't help that the person he's forgetting seems so adamant on staying forgotten.
