It was a truth universally acknowledged to all within Erebor and its surrounding lands that Dwalin and Nori of Thorin’s Company could not stand the sight of each other. They fought and bickered each and every time their paths crossed like a feral cat and a baited dog.
But a truth slightly more obscured than that, lounging just to the left of what could be handily observed, was the notion that hate probably didn’t describe this at all.In which Thorin and Bilbo are hypocrites, Dwalin and Nori are oblivious, and the entire Company (plus Dís) are shipper trash.
Or: the most ill-advised romance Erebor has ever seen, featuring all the gratuitous little Austen-isms you have always craved in a Hobbit fic!

Summary
Bilbo confesses a rather embarrassing fantasy to his husband, Thorin, who eagerly agrees to indulge him, confident in the trust they share. As the two carefully plan their private game, Thorin gathers props and prepares the perfect surprise, unaware that his suspicious behavior has alarmed the Company. Convinced their king has fallen back into gold-sickness and that Bilbo is in grave danger, the dwarves launch a dramatic rescue that bursts into the royal chambers at the worst possible moment, turning a carefully planned evening into a chaotic misunderstanding.

“Dwarves tend to use the stones they come from, but here,” Gandalf says, reaching into some hidden pocket of his robes and revealing a handful of very dirty gemstones. “Take these.”
Covered in dirt and all else, Bilbo really can’t see what he’s even looking at. A couple of gems, perhaps, or crystals. Only one tends to be actually cut into the fashion of rings, but the others look like they’ve come from the ground directly. One looks to be a garnet, but that’s the only color he recognizes.
“And pray tell,” Bilbo drawls, “what am I supposed to do with this?”
Gandalf laughs, fully bodied and leaning forward slightly. Bilbo can’t help but stare, half debating on throwing the mismatched rocks right onto the ground.
“Why, give it to Thorin, perhaps? As a token of… friendship,” Gandalf says.

Or Bilbo gives Thorin a gem that means lust. Thorin eventually replies with a flower that means hate. They figure it out in the end.

“...I remember fireflies, too.” Thorin’s voice is faraway, even as he sits here, the closest to the hobbit he has ever been. The gaps between his sentences are long, compared to the shorter man’s chattering, like he is weighing each one carefully. “In Erebor. On the ceiling, in the watery caves closer to the sea-level.”
As the King speaks of his home, the little lights in the distance seem to lose their allure, and Bilbo can’t help but watch the gemstones of Thorin’s eyes instead, unfocused like he’s looking into a memory.

After the Battle of the Five Armies, Durin’s Folk start regarding Bilbo as the Master Burglar. His theft of the Arkenstone is thought to be an unsurpassed achievement in the craft of burglary.
Bilbo’s unexpected popularity among dwarves quickly becomes a problem. Thorin has a solution that makes him the happiest hobbit alive but it does not help. Not in the slightest.
Or, Master Burglar steals great many things.
