Summary
Many moons ago, back in 2006 ish, me and Erin started writing a fanfic with own original characters, based on The Chronicles of the Cheysuli series by Jennifer Roberson. Title is a direct quote of a saying in the books, meaning "The fate of a man rests always within the hands of the gods". Section with (one asterisk) * before it = written by Erin, section with (two asterisks) ** before it = written by Mira.
For a quick recap of what the Cheysuli are about, if you haven't read the books: the Cheysuli have been blessed by the Old Gods, and usually only males are able to have a Lir, meaning they can bond with an animal/soul companion that they can communicate with. They can also transform into the shape of that animal. So a small tribe of nomadic shapechangers struggling to survive, living in a medieval setting, ish. Without giving away too much of the plot in the book series I can say the not so magically inclined people are hunting down the Cheysuli, because of reasons.. ;)

"You smell like Roy," Dick says again, and there's an edge of bitterness in his voice now. "His scent is all over you."
"He was scenting me," Jason snaps, his patience fraying. "Because I was in pain and it helps. It's not a big deal."
"It is a big deal," Dick counters, his voice dropping lower, rougher. An alpha's voice, a voice meant to be obeyed. The sound of it sends a shiver down Jason's spine, an involuntary reaction that makes him furious with himself. "You should have someone taking care of you. Someone who can actually give you what you need."
"And you're volunteering for the job?" Jason sneers, pushing himself off the counter and squaring his shoulders.
(Or, Jason goes to the grave without ever presenting. He comes back as an omega. An unusual, pathetic omega.)

Summary
As the Prince of the Empire, Luke Skywalker is prone to getting bored. So bored that he picks out the most intersting Mandalorian he sees, in hopes to temporarily fix it. It's easy to manipulate Din Djarin into a deal, when his fellow Mandalorians are falling in battle. Unfortunately for Luke, Din is nothing like he's expecting. He certainly doesn't know how to handle someone not afraid of him. Not afraid to touch him.
Luke comes to quickly find out that he's never wanted someone the way he wants Din Djarin.
