“Jay.” He reads off the nameplate pinned onto his apron and smiles. “Like, blue jays! That’s a cute name.”
“Really?”
“Everyone tells me blue jays are aggressive and mean because of that squawking noise they make. But, you know, they’re actually really faithful! They mate for life, I think that’s so cool…”
On any other day, Jay would roll his eyes at customers and their attempts at small talk. But he finds himself enthralled by the boy in front of him and the silly little bird fact he’s just shared. It’s endearing to Jay, and he says it with so much passion and love sparkling in his eyes, Jay nods along to every single word he says.
(Jay is a florist, and Jungwon is a tattoo artist down the street. Jungwon helps him learn how to reclaim his body as his own after trauma, and Jay feels like a work of art for the first time in his life.)

Barely any angst but it hit harder than everytime I read Sunoo and Sunghoon misunderstand each other's feelings in sunsun fics.
